HIH was founded in l987 to improve the social and academic lives of inner city boys and girls, ages 4-17. WM grant was to create a girls’ skating program and to hire a curriculum developer. HIH remains all about education and tutoring. Today about 20% of their girls are skaters (to be a skater, a certain minimum grade point average must be maintained: carrot and stick approach).
