Started in 2012, the founder, a former teacher at Riker’s Island, operates a for-profit food truck business that supporrts a non-profit program that addresses Rikers Island recidivism rate. Drive Change's mission is to use the food truck workplace to run a 1-year fellowship for young people returning home from prison so they can obtain preferred employment and educational opportunities.
The WellMet grant supported salaries during Drive Change's initial launch period.
