In 1979, Trickle Up gave ten seed grants, not loans, of $100 each, along with basic training on how to develop a business plan with regular reports to reflect expenses and profits so micro-enterprises could be established and have a good chance of surviving. Our grant helped establish additional start-ups of small independent businesses, as well as developing a network to allow clients to borrow small sums more easily.
