Founded in 2002, NYWC provided free creative writing workshops to New Yorkers who have been marginalized from society. In 2010, about 500 adults and 500 youth attended these weekly workshops. Our grant was to help with staff salaries.
NYWC is now one of the country’s largest community writing organizations, and continues to serve at-risk clients including a new program at Rikers Island. In 2012, they received a grant from Amazon.
