Founded in l997 in Staten Island as a storefront center, El Centro provides services for Spanish-speaking (mainly Mexican) immigrants via programs for day laborers, ESL, health ed classes, AIDS testing and workers’ rights. It is also a Single Stop provider whose budget is just over $300,000. Our grant would help establish a Day Laborers’ Center.
